Group project screen play.

INT. CAR. AFTERNOON SUNSET

JACK is driving the vehicle. JACK and JESS are listening to a crackley radio show. JESS is gazing out of the window in the passenger seat.

JACK

(sighs)

There's only bad news these days.

Radio suddenly goes static. JACK takes his eyes of the road to try and change the station. JESS gasps. JACK looks up and sees a girl standing in the middle of the road. JACK slams his foot on the brake and the car screeches to a halt at the girl's feet.

jack

(turns to JESS)

Are you okay?!

jess

(shocked and breathless)

What just happened?!

JACK turns to look back at the road but the girl has disappeared. There is a knock at the driver's seat window. JACK is startled and rolls down the window.

jack

I'm so sorry- are you okay?

GIRL remains silent but looks slightly scared.

JACK

(clears throat)

Where are you going? Do you need a lift anywhere?.. A lift home maybe?

GIRL nods and gets into the backseat of the car.

JESS

What were you doing outside? You must be freezing!

GIRL ignores the question and looks outside the window as JACK continues to drive on. JESS tried to fix the static on the radio.

JACK

Fix that radio will you, Jess? That noise is giving me a headache.

JESS

I'm trying...

JESS carries on to fiddle with the radio dial. JACK looks at the girl in the rearview mirror.

JACK

So where are we taking you?

GIRL

(continues to look out the window)

It's the big house with the red roof.

JACK

Ah yes, I know the one.

JESS finally fixes the radio and looks pleased with herself.

JESS

(excited)

I've finally done it!

JESS turns to the back seat but sees no one there. JESS screams when she realises the girl's gone. JACK swerves the car in shock and pulls up outside the house quickly.

JACK

(shocked)

What's the flipping matter?! You scared me!

jess

The girl!.. She's gone!

JACK

(looks in the rearview mirror)

What do you mean she's gone?

JACK turns around to check the backseats.

JACK

(whispers)

What the...? (pause) C'mon Jess, let's warn her parents.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE

JACK and JESS get out of the car and walk up a cobbled path up the big house with the red roof.

JESS

(walking and holding onto JACK's arm)

Dad, i'm so freaked out.

JACK

(reassuringly)

Don't worry, honey. I'm sure there's an explanation for this.

JACK and JESS arrive infront of an old oak door. JACK knocks. A few moments later, the door opens to reveal an old lady.

OLD LADY

(smiles to JACK and JESS)

Oh, hello there- how can I help you?

JACK

(clears throat)

Evening mam, we picked up a girl who said she lives here..

OLD LADY

(interrupts JACK)

..But she disappeared in the car?

JACK

(surprised)

Err.. Yeah! How did you..

OLD LADY

Oh, let's just say you're not the first person to come to this house expecting to deliver my grand daughter home.

JESS

(wide-eyed and shocked)

Your grand daughter?!

OLD LADY

Yes.. She was so pretty. A shy girl.

OLD LADY looks JESS up and down.

OLD LADY

Looked similar to you actually. Anyway, there was an accident on her way back to school and ever since, people have been claiming to have seen her.
