disney character finished and evaluation

When creating my disney brief character,i thought straight away of charley chaplin and my playful guy was going to imulate his characteristics.classically not bringing in too much speech only the emotion showing through facial expressions then came across the new mr.bean cartoons which are simular using grunts and sighs to show expression that made it stand out.
Instead of going to use flash simularly to mr.bean i've decided to use traditional 2d animated frame by frame.my main problem when animating was that i'd come to each scene and want to change each part and want to make it better being a perfectionist became my floor. i will keep trying to upload the video but at the moment having troubles. my storyboard changed in two places there wasn't a scene for the teacher leaving so i kept her in the room which made it so the entrance wasn't needed.
also the books just fall then the teacher shouts instead of the fall going into water i thought in the storyboard with the floor of not having the teacher leave to make it simple and focus on the character.

This animatic is a basic one showing the style im going for at the begining and more of how some of the scenes are going to look without going shot by shot. I've been working hard to make this character a lot more of what i was like in school that your same old run of the mill look and character that is denis the menis.Actions and poses to resemble more of a charlie chaplen look so that if each pose was a sillouette then it would show a the expressions effortlessly.

Just some sketches i've been doing to target various different aged audiences first the sketches below were for the young age 4-6 showing simple ideas,including simularitys to curtis joblings characters like bob the builder.

Quick two sketches capturing emotion in just one sketch of each character and found that when showing people the eye lids on the top character is liked because of the 3d look to them.

bottom character has more of a gothic look then showing him getting scared easily by a spider.

When researching and looking at verious animations i came across this and the emotion expression and body movement really impressed me with what im doing at the moment as wel creating my character with ausome expression to fit to my brief this is worth a good watch.

These are just a few other ideas for my character which i had that could be interesting probly wont make it to the end animation but will help with my process.

theres the original character with the rose which emulates what my character is going to be like,playing with his looks from there with a fat michael which i really like,nerdy michael could be interesting but my influences from futurama clearly came through there,hill billy mikey was just for jokes,beard grown mike was too homer but clear ideas came to me, then young michael was something which i mite consider for the aimed audience.

Character Expressions part 1, Disney brief.

After speaking to my tutor about my character and deciding on keeping to my character michael and just playing about with the features and how he could look because of the brief i decided the main objectives were to have expression also how much the principles of animation really do come into this a lot as the main objective when working on anything disney.

all about keeping the viewer intersted but still at the same time keeping it simple.

these are just a few quick expressions for michael ive been working on which will progress further on photoshop and make quick mock ups of what he could look like for my story board and finally my animatic.

from todays class ive decided to stay with my original character then make the expressions much much more exadurated also adding the principles as my main part because over looking any of disneys animations that is a must just to perfect it to the point which disney did to make it such an art form.

These are some action videos for my character because i found myself acting it out while drawing and my girlfriend was looking at me stupid asking "why im waving to my tv". So to look sane and give myself more research to work off jade held the camera while i acted out short scenes or shots which i was capturing to get back into the swing of things 2d.

this isnt my final character by a long shot i was just doing some tests,quick movement just the key frames as you can probably tell.

for some reason because im using the trial version of istopmotion its making my play backs on blogspot go red i appoligise for this and will get it sorted.

firstly ive chosen to take the disney brief i much preferred it to any of the others for opitunity and because its more of what i want to do and so i first dived straight in without any research so im going to go back over the research and do many designs for my character before i reach my choosen idea.

this is one of my better designs as of late to show which ive done i short idea for already let me know what you this as i said its not my final ive got much way to go before starting my animation clip for my character.

New briefs and a quick write up on each one and from there having to pick one.

From the instant i knew about the disney brief i wanted to do this one but ive got much more work to do but the past week ive just been looking at characteristics for my character but nothing official yet still at the ideas process.

Still want to do ideas for each brief first then from there go for which one i feel more comfortable with because this project really would come in useful for my showreal so i want to make the rite choices from the start to get the best outcomes possible.
