Ss2- Don't complicate things Story wise

Stan & Oliver (acting & re-acting)
Story

Story wise currently cutting things down and looking at reference, this project has had many changes along the way but the story has been the hardest job of deciding what would be best and look best to bring across the humour and acting that i would be happy with.

Recently realised not to focus to much on making sure to much about the audience liking something and more on working on something which i will be happy with and with that there will be more likely chance of lessons being learnt and be happy with the outcome.

Also the most of the week has been taken up with sorting out the story and deciding what the Goal was and found the importance was keeping the story simple and to focus the story around an object doesn't have to close down the ability of the acting.

referencing other material to learn things
Reference

As you'll have notices the two references to one man band the Pixar short, which wasn't till after i finished writing a story which i was happy with the similarity's to the Pixar short that is not is not to the extent of making a remake more of the structure of the story how the characters act and then re-act.

Till i have drawn out the final storyboard i won't be talking about it in detail, but with my learning outcomes set by myself i would more than anything like to improve my animating skills not in a technical way but acting with characters re-acting to each other.

Reacting to loosing her money becomes a twist in the story.

Mickey along side silent film greats animated

Silent film greats invited to Mickey's Gala Premiere

This would have been great for my dissertation but a bit late now, still great watch and the animation shows influence from Disney and along with mickey seeing other great film icons (list is below video).

Mickey Mouse - Mickey's Gala Premiere (1933)

Mickey's film is having a premiere, and all the stars turn out at the Chinese Theatre. Among those shown: Laurel and Hardy, the Marx Brothers, Jimmy Durante, Clark Gable, Sid Grauman, Mae West. The picture, Galloping Romance (Pegleg Pete kidnaps Minnie, and Mickey gives chase on a variety of animals), starts, and everyone in the audience sways along to the music, then rolls in the aisles with laughter. After, everyone comes on stage to congratulate Mickey; Garbo smothers him with kisses. Written by Jon Reeves

Ss2 welcome to whats new in 2012

Welcome to 2012

These are the beautiful gifts from the family thought id share with you my many interests amongst other animation gifts,Christmas was a great time to spend with the family but most of that time was taken up writing my dissertation which is,

"An Exploration of enduring appeal of Physical Comedy and how this translates to Animation"

The dissertation has been such a learning experience so far and as far as my knowledge of comedy and techniques I'm getting then when Specialist study 2 starts i will be applying my knowledge from specialist study one but making more of a professional attempt of making a short film still with a deadline but with more time to prepare everything story, character, acting, set design, rigging and most of all my wonderful audience.
This month I'm preparing on getting my dissertation finished, start story with that character personality which also drives the narrative, also will be taking a trip down to Bristol to go to the well renown Slapstick festival to wider my knowledge and understanding of timing and how i can target my physical comedy from well acclaimed actors and comedians.

Laurel and Hardy Boxset

Much anticipated present which I've been interested in for years only being able to watch the odd clip here and there now when il be referencing characteristics when there are a dewo on screen il have what i need to know what works, with over 21 discs and more films than there are discs I'm sure to have a good starting point for my narrative and my character building.
